Network Bypass

Protecting your network from tools’ failure

CGS Tower Bypass is a component of the Tera-Pro™ visibility solution designed to enhance cyber security and performance monitoring operations by ensuring that the appropriate data is delivered in the appropriate amount and format. CGS’s network bypass switch is a vital component to ensure network resiliency. CGS’s Bypass solution provides an automated failover mechanism to ensure that network traffic continues to flow uninterrupted even in the event of a security appliance failure or maintenance. Deploying a network bypass switch in your network can help to ensure that your network is always available to your users, providing them with the level of service they require.
Equipped with fail-safe inline protection for network security and monitoring tools, Bypass supports port rates from 1Gbps and up to 400Gbps improves overall network reliability, increases application availability, and provides the added benefits of remote monitoring and control. Bypass features make it an essential component for any in-line deployment, meeting the crucial requirements of reliability, availability, and cost savings.

Bypass Connectivity Example

Bypass Connectivity Example

A network Bypass is an external protection device that forward network traffic between network A and network B through an inline tool. Network Bypass device is inserted at a strategic point in the network to protect network from inline tools failure.

CGS Tower Bypass Family Advantages

Modular and flexible mix & match of all bypass module types and rates in 1/2/4RU enclosure

High density bypass solution supporting up to 8 links per 1RU

Designed and optimized for latency sensitive applications (algo-trading)

High reliability with link fault detection and fail-safe bypass functions

Reduce complexity, transceiver-less rate & traffic type agnostic solution

Choose the Right Network Bypass for your Needs

1. Bypass only:

  • In default configuration the link signal will pass from Network A towards the monitoring tool, Tool A and the from Tool B towards Network B and backwards.
  • In Bypass mode the link signal will only pass from Network A to Network B and backwards.
Bypass Module Types - Bypass only

2. Bypass + Monitor Copy module:

  • In default configuration the link signal will pass from Network A towards the monitoring tool, Tool A and the from Tool B towards Network B and backwards.
  • In Bypass mode the link signal will only pass from Network A to Network B and backwards.
  • In addition on both modes on the Tx side of Network A and Network B there will be a copy of the data by a TAP splitter which will be on Mon A and Mon B.
Bypass Module Types - Bypass + Monitor Copy module

3. Bypass TAP:

  • In default configuration the link signal of Network A is split into 2 directions Network B and Tool A. The only signal, traffic, arrives from Tool B will be redirected to Network B. Same way from Network B towards Networks A.
  • In Bypass mode the link signal of Network A is split into 2 directions Network B and Tool A. The only signal, traffic, arrives from Network A will be redirected to Network B. In addition there is a copy that arrives to Tool A. Same way from Network B towards Networks A.

4. Bypass TAP + Monitor Copy:

  • In default configuration the link signal of Network A is split into 2 directions Network B and Tool A. The only signal, traffic, arrives from Tool B will be redirected to Network B. Same way from Network B towards Networks A.
